Memory Care

When it becomes difficult to care for someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia at home, you may want to consider memory care. Memory care in skilled nursing facilities, sometimes called Alzheimer’s care, provides housing and 24-hour care for elders with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Memory care facilities such as The Veranda at Mitchell Hollingsworth offer a safe, uniquely designed environment for residents with a focus on improving quality of life, reducing confusion, and preventing wandering. Memory care facilities are residential spaces that cater to the specific needs of elders with memory loss. Key services and features that make memory care facilities different from other types of senior care facilities include 24-hour care, specialized staff, memory-enhancing therapies, a secure environment, and more.

Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents at Mitchell Hollingsworth spend their days surrounded by people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through daily engagement. We believe that it is important for them to maintain their skills as long as possible while providing enriching activities that stimulate cognition and improve quality of life. To help keep residents safe, our memory care exterior doors are secured 24 hours a day, and have doorbells and/or keypads at the entrances and exits to monitor who comes through the unit. Our memory care, The Veranda, also features an enclosed patio and courtyard so residents may enjoy the outdoors while remaining safe. Because we’re all unique, we believe in providing quality care that caters to each individual resident. Sometimes that means using a different approach for one person than we would for another with the goal of getting to know each resident for who they are and incorporating their individual needs and interests into their care plan. As a resident, your loved one will have a full social calendar that changes regularly. Our residents stay engaged with a daily structure of planned activities to help them maintain their abilities and encourage the use of their current skills. Bingo, puzzles, stories, dancing, art, and music are just a few of the ways our residents enjoy their days. Our staff handles all the chores such as laundry and housekeeping, while providing continuous support throughout the day during meals, medication, bathing, and more. We don’t just hire good people; we invest in quality training and education. Our staff receives initial and ongoing training to help them keep up-to-date on the latest dementia care techniques.
